What to do in West Clare...
Surfing and Swimming Doughmore Strand with its beautiful sand dunes is famous for long beach walks, surfing and horse riding. It is unsafe for swimming, but there's a beach near the cottage, as well as safe beaches in Doonbeg (White Strand), Kilkee, Quilty,
Spanish Point and Miltown Malbay. Kilkee also has an indoor pool, which is open in summer.
Golf The renowned Greg Norman designed Doonbeg Links Golf course with luxury Hotel and Spa is just a short walk away. And the other renowned Golf courses in Kilrush, Kilkee, Spanish Point and Lahinch are all less than half an hour from the house. Ballybunion
Championship course can easily be reached via the Killimer7Tarbert Car Ferry.
Walking and Cycling Kilometers of quiet country roads make for perfect walking and cycling. The West Clare Cycleway passes near the house.
The nicest walk is surely the walk across Doughmore Strand!
Angling

Dolphin & Bird watching Tours for watching the Dolphin families in the Shannon Estuary take place from Kilrush Marina and from Carrigaholt. Loop Head Peninsula is also a great place for Bird- and Whalewatching.
Sightseeing Kilkee has a beautiful sheltered beach and is also starting point of the Loop Head Drive leading along spectacular cliff scenery to Loop Head Lighthouse. The bustling market town of Kilrush with it’s marina is just 15 minutes drive away. Boat trips to Scattery Island as well as Dolfin watching tours commence in this Marina.
The town of Miltown Malbay is 10 kms away and hosts the annual Willie Clancy Summer School each July which attracts thousands of visitors who are passionate about traditional Irish music and dance. The famous Cliffs of Moher and its new state of the art interpretative centre Atlantic Edge is also only a 30 min. drive away.
