What to see and what to do in Kilkee

Kilkee is one of Clare's main holiday resorts offering many attractions, including safe swimming, walking, tennis, squash, golf, pitch and putt, children's amusements,free-diving and surfing. The town has all kinds of shops, some fine restaurants, bars and an indoor water pool (Kilkee Waterworld).

The area offers quite a few natural amenities around its horseshoe-shaped bay. The safe sheltered sandy beach is protected by Duggerna Reef, which is a natural wonder itself with some large and small rock pools full of marine life. Breathtaking cliff walks offer splendid scenery.

This Cliff scenery all along to Loop Head Lighthouse is one of Kilkee's greatest natural attractions. Loop Head Scenic Drive commences near the house and will take you to numerous scenic outlooks. Dolphins, whales and seals appear regularly on and around Loop Head Peninsula. A variety of rare birds, like skuas, storm petrels and shearwaters can be seen flying past and attract birdwatchers from near and far.

The atlantic coast offers a number of angling spotson rocks, cliffs and on the beaches. But also the inland waters, the many rivers and lakes in the area make West Clare a paradise for anglers. All the necessary gear can be hired locally. Click here for more information.

Kilkee has a beautiful golf course right at the coast, not to far from the house. Many more golf courses for all ambitions can be found closeby. Kilrush, Doonbeg and Spanish Point are all less than half an hour away.
