Katie's cottage was built in 1850 and three generations of the Shannon family have made it their home.  Ten members of a family of fourteen emigrated to Chicago from this house in the early 20th century. The house was refurbished in the 1950's when the present generation of the family were born there. Kathleen (Caitlín) or Katie was the Mammy. In the 1990's Katie's cottage was again refurbished and has hosted tourists from Europe, Australia and the U.S.A.

There's a lovely, well kept garden in front of it with lots of flowers. Enjoy the warmer days and evenings on the picnic bench and have a chat with the friendly neighbours!
