Location

Danubio house is located on the N67 Kilkee-Miltown Malbay road (see map) in rural countryside near the sand-dunes of Doughmore Strand and just one minute drive from the entrance to Doonbeg Golf Links Course. The long sandy beach of Doughmore Strand and the spectacular natural stonewall of Clogher Strand separating Lake Donnell from the Atlantic are just a short distance away.

Doonbeg
The village with its shops, pubs and restaurants is 10 min. driving time from the house.
We arrange transportation if necessary.

Kilrush & Kilkee
Kilrush is the capital of West Clare. This busy market town has a marina, from which boats leave to historic Scattery Island and to dolphin watching tours.
Kilkee with its scenic sheltered harbour and beach is a favourite Irish holiday destination. The spectacular rocky coast along Loop Head Peninsula is one of Ireland's most scenic coastlines.

Doughmore Strand
is one of the most beautiful beaches on Clare's West Coast. Over 2.5 km of beautiful clean sand offers plenty of room for walking and enjoying the ever changing Irish skies and the rolling Atlantic waves. These waters are among the best in Ireland for surfing but are not safe for swimming. However, Blue Flag beaches like White Strand near Doonbeg, Cappa Pier near Kilrush, White Strand near Miltown Malbay as well as the sandy beaches of Quilty and Spanish Point are all only a short driving distance away.

West Clare
has plenty to offer for all tastes. The scenic and historic sights of County Clare - including the Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle, the Burren region - are all within easy reach of Danubio house. However, West Clare itself is still one of the best-kept secrets on the Irish Tourist Map. It’s especially attractive to those who look for peace and relaxation in its unspoilt rolling hills and rocky coastline.
Last but not least West Clare is a centre of traditional Irish Music and Dance. Many pubs throughout the region have regular live music sessions. Traditional Music festivals such as the Willie Clancy Summer School - Miltown Malbay every July and the Eigse Mrs. Crotty - Kilrush every August - attract music enthusiasts from all over the world.
